The number of food safety incidents in Taiwan in recent years has been a blessing and a curse for exporters around the world.

With each scandal the government reacts by tightening regulations. Today the rules governing food ingredients, labelling, packaging and classification are at an all time high as the Taiwanese authorities work to protect consumers and restore confidence.

The new regulations are particularly strict for F&B retail products, where one minor non-compliance issue could result in recall of the product and penalties for the manufacturer or importer. Thus it has become paramount for F&B exporters to Taiwan to be up-to-date with the latest FDA regulations pertaining to your product range.

On the plus side, given consumer confidence in local F&B products continues to stay low, the demand for imported products is on the rise as Taiwanese consumers seek safe alternatives.

There has never been a better time for exporters to grab a share of the pie.
